Abruzzo is situated in Central Italy, crossroads of people, cultures and productions of the whole peninsula. Its great quality has been its peasant development that enabled to maintain, in the villages and among families, the native food and wine tradition, keeping them original from place to place and being invariable through the centuries to the modern age, supported by a firm belief of belonging and identity.
Other factors that enabled the preservation of this tradition are:
-
territory at the margin of the large economic interests
-
population spread on the whole territory with a very low density
-
naturalistic environment unspoilt during the centuries and nowadays used for one fourth as national parks and natural reserves (Abruzzo is known as the Greenest European Region)
For all that the food and wine traditions stayed intact and its productions mantained a little developed aspect. Most of the products are made by small companies or even family run businesses. Small companies, native, limited and niche productions are the guarantee of a high standard production.
Abroad are well known productions of regions like Tuscany, Piedmont, Emilia Romagna. We give credit to the unquestionable quality of their products and even more to their ability in producing, marketing and spreading, but what we allow ourselves to say is that we can “compete and differ from” them from several point of views: originality, peculiarity and uniqueness of some productions. Moreover we can only say: “taste to believe!”.
Try yourselves looking up among the best guides for the wines from Abruzzi (Montepulciano vine is the most known), then look for the saffron from Navelli, truffles and pasta makers from Abruzzi. Those products are already well known, but you need to know that there are a lot more that, most of the times, do not even cross the regional or national borders and that have unquestionable excellence. Just to name a few: Parrozzo cake, honey from the national parks of Abruzzi, nougat from Sorelle Nurzia, salami from Chieti and L'Aquila provinces, traditional Abruzzesi jams, pulses (chickpeas from Navelli and lentils from Santo Stefano di Sessanio) and many others.
All you need to do is to surf inside our site and lose yourselves among these flavours... enjoy surfing and we hope “enjoy your meal”.
